This is the temporary website for
Carers Trust South East Wales.
We have used our Carer Friendly website to host this while we re-develop our main site.
Carers Trust South East Wales is the largest organisation supporting unpaid carers in Wales. Our vision is that unpaid carers can look after their own health and wellbeing as well as the person they support and that they can enjoy and feel fulfilled in the things that matter to them.
We provide a wide range of information, advice and support services for unpaid carers in Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Torfaen and the Vale of Glamorgan. We also deliver commissioned and private home care and support services.
Want to work with CTSEW?
The things we hope change or happen as a result of our service, which includes linking people to other available support, are:
i) A family member or friend who has care or support needs is assisted to be as independent as possible in their own home. This will be by being able to manage as many self-care and everyday tasks as possible, gaining extra help from professionals or trained volunteers when they need and want it.
ii) People (unpaid carers) who assist a family member of friend with care or support tasks are well equipped to do those and are given help to do them where appropriate and wanted.
iii) People who provide or assist with care and support tasks have sufficient breaks and time for themselves where that is not currently happening. Support is also available at times they are not able to do the tasks they would normally do due to illness or a need to do other things like work, go to school, attend appointments, etc.
iv) Helping a family member or friend with care or support tasks does not lead to a deterioration in the carers’ physical or emotional health and wellbeing and unpaid carers have the ability to generally manage the emotional challenge of caring and have help when stress and anxiety levels are starting to become or are already too difficult to manage. and support”
v) You have the entitlements that you’re eligible for as an unpaid carer and are not financially disadvantaged as a result of your role.
vi) Unpaid carers have the time and headspace to enjoy and make the most of their own life, meeting friends; doing activities and hobbies; and achieving their personal, professional or educational goals.
