Thank you for your interest in helping to improve services provided by Carers Trust South East Wales.
We are working with Perago to explore how to improve the services we provide to carers.
It’s important to us that we don’t develop our services without hearing from those that use them so we’re looking for people to get involved and tell us about their experiences as a carer.
The information on this page will help you decide if you’d like to take part and let you know how to register your interest.
What the research will involve
- A 30 minute phone or video interview (your choice)
- The interviews will take place on weekdays between hours of 8am-8pm from 10th-17th November
- You will receive a One4All £30 gift voucher as a “thank you” for taking part
The conversation will be recorded so our interviewers can listen back and make notes. This recording won’t be shared with anyone outside the project team and will be deleted at the end of the project
With your consent, some colleagues at Carers Trust South East Wales may listen in on your interview so they can also hear about your experiences, but this is up to you.
If you have read the information below and are happy to help you can register by clicking the button below:

Who we’re looking to speak to
We want to hear from you if you’re caring for someone without any professional support for your needs an unpaid carer.
A carer is anyone who cares for or supports, unpaid, a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.
You may have an adult in your life that relies on you for personal care, feeding, supervision and/or medication. Or you may be looking after a child with behavioural or physical care needs above what you’d typically expected of a child.
Anyone could be a carer – a 15-year-old girl looking after a parent with an alcohol problem, a 40-year-old man caring for his partner who has terminal cancer, or an 80-year-old woman looking after her husband who has Alzheimer’s disease.
You may or may not consider yourself a carer, but we want to speak to you as long as you:
- Do some care or support tasks for a family member or friend – it doesn’t matter how often
- Are unpaid for your care and support work
- Have been doing your caring role for at least 3 years
- Are not currently receiving support from a professional organisation for your needs as a carer (or have only started receiving support in the last 3 months)
- Live in South East Wales (this includes the Vale of Glamorgan, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Newport, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Monmouthshire and Bridgend).

How we keep you and your information safe
By taking part in this research, you’ll help shape how services are developed to better support carers like you with your role. We know that there are lots of people in South East Wales with caring responsibilities that aren’t receiving support for their needs as a carer. We can’t make this better without your help to understand what’s stopped you from getting support in the past and what support would be most helpful for you.
If you agree to take part in our research and speak to us then it’s our duty to keep you and the information you tell us safe. Below we will explain how we will do this before, during and after the research.
Before the research
We will make sure you know exactly what to expect from our interview and will ask you to sign a form to confirm that you consent to taking part.
If we suspect that you may be really struggling with your care role and in distress, then we will give you information to get in touch with our colleagues who can support you.
During the research
We know the conversations may touch on sensitive or emotional areas for you. We will have some questions we want to ask you but it will feel like an informal chat where you are given the space to tell your story.
If there’s anything you would prefer not to discuss, that is okay.
You are able to take a break or stop the interview at anytime for any reason and still receive the gift card as a thank you for taking part.
After the research
We will provide you information about how to get in touch with Carers Trust South East Wales for support.
We will anonymise our findings so that it will not be possible to trace research findings back to you.
The data captured and recording of your interview will be stored securely and only the team working on the project will have access. The data will only be used for the purpose of this research project. We will delete the data we have collected about you on completion of the project, which includes data from your interview and our signed consent form.
After your interview, you can withdraw your data from the research for any reason. Please get in touch on 01792 962705 or [email protected] to do this.
